So I’m on the Atlantic Avenue local platform at 1:00AM this morning on my way home from work when this dude appears out of nowhere giving me the elevator look. He stood there a while but I kept pretending like he was transparent. He then proceeds to ask me if the 2 train stops here…. C’mon now. I know a Brooklyn nigga when I see one and he knew good and damned well which trains stop here. But I just gave him an affirmative nod. “Thanks.” he said. I thought to myself, that was simple enough… til he opened his mouth again, SMH. (more…)

Master Your Environment!

These are questions posed by The School of Practical Philosophy (http://www.philosophyworks.org). In this case, I saw them on an ad board on the 2 train. The focal images used on the ad was a larger version of this:

Now the words really didn’t inspire me to think as much as the images did. On closer inspection I noticed the fish in the fishbowl is frowning, while the fish in open water is smiling. Basically the fish in the bowl is unhappy with his life and aspires for something better. Eh, makes sense when you apply it to the average man. Most people are like that; unhappy with some aspect of their life – whether it be their job/career, living situation, financial situation, love-life, it’s always something that isn’t quite right.
